The book of unpublished photographs Where Rio meets the sea - City & Sea (bilingual edition, Where the city meets the sea - Rio & Mar), which will be launched in November by the publisher Língua Geral, translates the unique dialogue between beach and city that one lives in Rio de Janeiro, differentiating the Marvelous City from any other coastal city in the world. The idea is to show, through subtle codes, how the mixture between sand and asphalt cultures, in addition to influencing the urban landscape, is a determining factor in Rio's behavior. the original concept was designed by designer Maria Lago, creator of the publication, in collaboration with Nereo Zago, creative director of the design strategy company Zago. Maria gathered essays by nine professional or amateur photographers invited to interpret the idea visually. the body of the edition is formed by the diversity of looks and techniques of artists who are also active characters in this story. Where Rio meets the sea - City & Sea gathers photo spellings by Luiza Baldan, Lucas Bori, Pedro Garcia (Cartiê Bression), Marcos Chaves, Demian Jacob, Carolina Matos, Vicente de Paulo and Tiago Petrik, in addition to the first photographs published by Maria Lake. “All of them are Cariocas who had experiences outside the country and came back with a new look at the city's customs, so intrinsically incorporated into our daily lives”, says Maria.
